Finding the logical connections from an UDE to quantifiable negative effects

Using the appropriate template working from the bottom to the top ask what factors potentially relate to this UDE.  List these and then classify them as existing now (EN), facts of life (FOL) or negative effects (NE) or negative effect that Will Exist (WE).  (see example above).  An UDE will have existing negative effects, but an UDE that is not dealt with may cause significant negative effects in the future.

Identify what might be the top (last) negative effect.  Put this effect above the UDE in an NBR template and attempt to logically connect the two things.  Use the list of factors as entities in this process.  The negative effects go on the backbone of the NBR and the existing now factors or facts of life are the supporting ribs.

Use CLR to upgrade the branch.  This will help identify additional ribs and effects which will improve clarity and understanding.  Example

The list of factors will help to form the negative branch but it will not necessarily be complete nor easy at first.  Use CLR to help to fully develop the branch.

We tend to think in fast mode and are not practiced in explaining to ourselves or others why we feel one thing leads to another...

NB It may be that the UDE is the top negative effect and you can quantify it immediately.

Repeat this process for each of the selected UDE.
